    1. If you are a trader taking decisions based on index movements better to avoid all stocks suggested here.Aimco is a stock suggested around Rs.40 level . No need to look at indices never means stock will not change even when there is sharp movement in over all market . Genuine Investors should look into company's business growth in long term rather than trying to correlate share price movements with index movements on a daily basis . If your purpose is like that , better go for nifty futures and turn as a pakka trader . In 99 % cases , rest is assured ..RIP...

    1. Not strictly tracking this company . But , If I am not mistaken this company is manufacturing caps for PET bottles. I am not sure whether there is any kind of entry barrier in these type of business.

What is your take on Cadila and Noartis ? Can they be also included in portfolio?

  5. Hi VP,

This is not the right place to comment about one of your old picks Bilcare, but I wasn't sure if commenting on the 6 month old Bilcare thread was a good idea.

All in all, my risk taking capacity as well as appetite is aligned with taking a bet like Bilcare. And I like the story, while accepting that it's a risky one.

My one worry was about promoter honesty. The reason this worry got triggered was this article:
    http://www.moneylife.in/article/bilcares-funny-accounting-figures/38880.html

Do you see this as a red flag too?

If you look at the cash flow statement (consolidated), you see "purchase of fixed assets" as INR 472 cr for FY14, versus 1,034 cr for FY13.

If the accounting is suspect, I want to run far far away!

    1. This issue came to light few months back when the company published its 2013-14 Annual Report. At that time, I suggested all my readers holding shares of Bilcare to mail me personally and explained the situation .

  6. Hello VP sir...

In your previous "Amines & Plasticizers" thread one of your readers GreyCells in his reply to Deepak mentions that the search feature on the blog searches the comments section as well..

I have tried using the search feature multiple times and have not received a positive result. Eg I have asked VP sir about his views on "Freshtrop Fruits" in the past but when I search for "Freshtrop" in the search box I get a negative response saying "No posts matching the query". I believe the search feature only searches VP sirs' original posts and not the comments...I have tried searching on Chrome as well as IE browsers just to ensure it is not a browser issue. I am not sure if I am doing anything wrong! If GreyCells/VP sir/ or anyone else who has this figured out can help me would be very grateful..

I have recently started searching the site through Google and it works very well that way..and for readers who may not know how to, kindly use this syntax on Google and it should give you proper results -

    Go to Google.com
    Type the following syntax -

    site:value-picks.blogspot.com "stockname"

This will search for the particular stock wherever it is mentioned in the site(comments as well as posts)

Hope this helps in reducing repeated queries..

    Kind Regards
    Pssa..

    1. Just do the following ..

      Go to the below Link

      http://www.searchblogspot.com/

Put your search string + valuepick in the search window

      Then try to search

      You will get the result.

You technique of google search using google parameters
      site:value-picks.blogspot.com "stockname"
      will also work.

as pointed out by VP, you need to goto "http://www.searchblogspot.com/" which is again google search and same as your technique.

Anyways, we need to search about comments on particular company before raising question... just to check if VP has answered it recently.

I search for freshtrop and found VP answer that he likes EPC more with some links to read about. If we will put less burden on VP with no posting unnecessary queries then we can get MAX benefit.

Till date I had done 2-3 queries in last 1 year or so and to each of my query, I realized that I should have search the blog first. There are good links and reasoning shared by VP which can be used to study further and add more information on blog if we found any.

      Thanks
      GreyCells.

    3. Thank you VP sir, Grey Cells and Vijay for your replies..

Grey Cells, I completely agree with you that we need to search previous comments before posting queries in order to put less burden on VP sir. That was my whole purpose for bring this search issue up..

Vijay..though using Ctrl+F will work fine for searching the page you are currently browsing but, unfortunately, as you may know, it will not search the hundreds of other pages there are in this blog. And it will be a huge time consuming process to go to every page and conduct a keyword search using CTRL+F.. In my humble opinion it may be easier and time efficient to search using either the searchblog mentioned by VP sir or through Google using the "site:" operator...

      Thanks again..
And happy learning and investing :))

  13. Sir do you see any impact due to the devaluation of russian and japan's currency on skm eggs profit?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. To my understanding SKM doing business in USD and Euro .Some indirect impact is possible due to fluctuation in the value of Yen . But I don't think this is not a stock to buy and sell based on such temporary blips. Japan is an economy shows resilience in past and many times proved their ability to come back from crisis .If there is any mild impact on SKM 's performance due to such temporary issues in Japan , such corrections are opportunity to buy and not to sell for genuine investors with long term view.

As of now company not doing any business with Russia , hence no impact on that account too.

  21. Dear VP,

I know that you have recommended to exit Himalaya international and it can be bough only at lower levels. It is around 7.50 now, is it worth taking risk to average here and start buying at lower levels in staggered manner and wait for long term. Is it worth giving this stock couple of quarters or better to move on with other decent picks. Your views are very much appreciated regarding this.

    Replies
    1. AS you are aware , few months back company decided to stop its marketing alliance with Simplot for certain products and market the same by themselves .. One need to wait few quarters to understand the success of this efforts . If you are a low risk taker , nothing wrong in waiting for few quarters to understand the impact and then take a decision.
