BAMBINO AGRO INDUSTRIES - REPEAT

Bambino Agro is a stock I recommended last year almost at the current rate.Thereafter company altered its Memorandum of Association to venture into some  un related fields .On the basis of this decision ,later I expressed some negative opinion on this stock. After touching a low of Rs.24 now it recovered and ruling close to its 52 week high price of Rs.40 .Now it is learned that ,even the company altered its MOA, it is not in a hurry to move into these fields and decided to concentrate in its core business.Hence re-looking into this  once again.

BAMBINO is a  well known brand with pan India marketing network.Company selling pasta, macaroni , noodles and a number of ready to eat items under the BAMBINO brand . Company producing almost 75 items  from 4 manufacturing facilities. Even this company is in operation for the past many years with a good brand recall ,its financial performance so far not creating any excitement.Higher debt level and a possible conflict of interest due to more entities owned by the same promoters are the key reasons for concern. If the promoters are willing to change their mind there is huge scope for wealth creation in this company .Since they hold almost 75 % stake in it, it is easy to dilute some stake and raise funds to bring down debt burden.Considering the brand value and the premium valuations realised in some private equity deals in food sector  it is not an impossible task. In the past I have recommended two companies which faces same situation ( Butterfly Gandhimathi ( to read click HEREand DFM Foods - HERE ) and later we realised what has happened with a change in the attitude of management .The market capitalisation of both these companies improved multi fold after some minor proactive steps taken by the management of both these companies. Here in the case of BAMBINO too this is very relevant and the same miracle is possible just by some simple initiatives by the promoters.I believe this will happen in future and they will not waste the big opportunity available .In recent times company expanding to new territories  and introducing various new products. To ramp up its sales force, company recruited many employees in recent past. To sell its ready to eat items BAMBINO started to open retail outlets in multiplexes. Earlier company entered into a distribution tie up with Domino's Pizza ( For details click HERE). Even in the financial front too , company improving its performance in past few quarters. For the quarter ended June 2012 net profit rose 91.55% to Rs 1.36 crore as against Rs 0.71 crore during the previous quarter ended June 2011. Company's year ending is in September and it already posted an EPS of Rs.4.8 in nine months  against last full year EPS of Rs.2.34 .I feel , now things are started to move slowly in the right direction. If management is willing to take some steps like reducing debt, increasing corporate governance standards ..etc  ,this stock will be a multi bagger in long term even from its 52 week high price of Rs.40/-.

Disc:I have vested interest in BAIL

  3. Hello sir,

The co's ROE in last few years has been low..in mid-high singe digits. The main reason behind this I feel is large reserves kept on B/S (the company is not paying dividend either) Should we not exclude or reduce the reserve amount and then calculate ROE in such unique cases. What's your take on this? can we do such calculations?

Also, the debt to equity ratio is high/interest coverage is also not that satisfactory. Given that the company is small, what's your taken on this? I do understand that while making investment ideas you don't look at ratios, but I wanted your opinion on it. Given that the company has reserves on B/S and still having lot of debt at the same time. Does not make such sense.

    Like to have your views.

    Thanks,
    Nirmal

A stock may not worth for a BUY even @ Rs.1 and the same stock may be worth for buy even @Rs.1000 - depends on the availability of more and more information and conviction generated from it.I have one question to you , this same stock recommended earlier @ Rs.35 and then it hits yearly low @ Rs.23.Why didn't you buy it there.?

Never invest only due to my recommendation . I am just trying to invite readers attention to some stocks which are not much discussed in investor fraternity , with my own reasoning.Try to do some home work and then invest if and only if you are convinced.Investment @ higher than recommended price depends on one's risk profile.

I think you will get the answer very easily by googling :) .As a new comer in stock market wishing all the best .Never over trade, never leverage .Invest based on company fundamentals and show patience ,remember - stock market is not a place to multiply money over night and price movement in long term only correlated with business growth of company so we need enough patience to win .

      Wishing happy investing.

  17. VP Sir

You always advice to hold stocks for long term and that is what I also always follow, but I did want to bring your attention to ROTO Pumps, a company which you have adviced more than 3 times on your blog but every time after a spike in price for a very short period it came down to the same level. It's a company with vey cheap valuations, good management, excellent product quality and brand but still the stock has not got re rated. Is it something to do with that management is not concerned about minority shareholders. I am holding this stock since 2010 and won't part away with it as I strongly feel it will be re rated some day.

    Regards

I feel , the duty of a good management is concentrate in their business and reward share holders through dividend,bonus..etc in a prudent manner. This promoters are doing the same.If growth continuous .Once market will realise it and value accordingly.

Hope you are also tracking this company. I have 3500 @ 290 avg price.Your advise will be of a great help to me and many investers as well on this company.

  21. Dear Vp,

Thank you for your inputs. We have exchanged messages through your blog page in the last 2 plus years. Thank you for your support. Your blogs perspectives have help me alter my view point to take some informed decisions in the market.

Can you give me an update on your stock recommendation 'Tokyo Plast'. I understand that the stock reached 24 levels after your recommendation and now later corrected back to your recommendation levels. If I currently look at the books of the company and their quarterly financial strength I do not particularly see a pressing value in the stock. The company works with dealers who works on thin margins and can affect in the near run.

What is your take on Tokyo?

    Best, Prathik Goenka
