ADITYA BIRLA CHEMICALS - BETTER TIMES

Adiya Birla Chemicals is a member of Aditya Birla Group .This company taken over by Aditya Birla Group  in 2005 and now it is a 51% subsidiary of Hindalco Industries.ABCIL manufacturing inorganic chemicals, like  caustic soda, chlorine, resins , hydrochloric acid, aluminium chloride , bleaching powder ..etc.Its products find applications in sectors like Soaps and Detergents ,Pulp and paper,Textiles ,Water treatment,Dyes and colours ,Aluminium ,Food Processing ,Lubricants .etc .After the acquisition by Aditya Birla Group , company added capacities substantially and also included many new products into its offering.Last year Company completed a large acquisition by buying out Kanoria Chemical’s chloro chemicals division at a cost of Rs.830 Cr.With this acquisition ABCIL’s caustic soda capacity increased  from 1,05,000 tpa to 2,20,000 tpa.Now ABCIL is upgrading the caustic soda plant of this facility by most modern technology with a capital outlay of another Rs.150 Cr . Renovated plant is expected to re-start commercial production in next few months. This new technology will increase capacity and reduce power cost substantially ,which will reflect in margins going forward. Chlor Alkali business is cyclical in nature and it is going through better times . Considering the tight supply demand conditions in favor of Chlor –Alkali producers  ,further price hikes also expected in next few quarters . This company will be one of the biggest beneficiary of the emerging opportunities  in this sector backed by the large capacity and strong management capabilities of Aditya Birla Group. Company raised its debt level to fund the above mentioned large acquisition but a favorable pricing situation for its products is expected support the cash flow going forward. Investors with medium  term view may consider it @ CMP of Rs.89,  and keep a close watch on the price trend of its products.Sock is traded both in NSE and BSE

    1. Dear Friend

This is a common situation faced by many investors and many reasons behind this .First of all lack of conviction itself .If we have done proper study before entering in a stock we will not panic in a dip and we will take it as an opportunity to buy more.Second is our trading mentality itself, some people always trying to make some money by trading in scrips they are holding. They sell in the morning and try to buy back in the eventing .In 9 out of 10 cases such trading will give few rupees at the cost of big opportunities. This is almost sure in low volume scrips like Sequent .People will loose the stock just before the big leap started.Another situation of panic is due to purchase of shares using leveraged/loaned funds.Better to avoid investing with time bounded funds in stock market.

In specific to Sequent , no negative has happened yesterday and it is only a correction after a sharp rise.Personally , I am holding some large quantity of this stock and happy to see any correction to add more.I think , company will start its better days in near future and being a low liquid counter there is fair chance for good appreciation when the benefits of new expansion,USFDA approval ..etc happens ,which is expecting in near future.

STOCKS MKTS ARE NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED.
FIRSTLY U MUST BE COMPLETELY CONVINCED ABOUT THE COMPANY ONLY THEN U SHOULD INVEST.
SELLING 800 OUT OF 1000 SHARES U HOLD AT A LOSS SHOWS UR LACK OF CONVICTION.
IN 2010 I BOUGHT 70 SHARES OF MANAPPURAM AT 75.
IT CRASHED TO 18 RS IN 2012.
BUT I DIDN'T SELL COZ I AM CONVINCED ABOUT THE COMPANY.

  19. VP sir,
I am new to your blog and first please accept my sincere thanks to you.

I liked your comment on buying when the stock comes down instead of selling.
I have kept aside some money to invest for betterment of my kids and wanted to know if I can buy Granules India if it comes down to 175 levels?
The reasons - After going through your blog in detail I see Granules and Kaveri seeds being the most discussed. Since in Granules lot of good news are expected in coming months my focus is in Granules.
I want to lock my money for next 2 years in Granules for my kids and let that money grow so I can give them better life.

Sir, your views will be highly appreciated. Since I am small investor & have limited cash to invest I wanted to focus on 1 stock and remain invested.
If you think its not advisable to buy at such levels as it has moved up, I can let go and wait for other opportunities.

Thanks for such wonderful care shown by you in guiding small investors like us.

    Thanking you.

I will not advice any stock to buy ,using time bounded funds. If u need funds after two years especially for something related with your kids,I never advice to put money in stock market.People always mixing savings and investment and I don't think it is the right method.Invest only with the money available beyond savings even if it is a small amount .This will avoid many unnecessary tension and taking mistaken decisions.

You are getting a feeling - everyone talking about Sequent - after reading our blog .I still feels only a very small minority is still known about this stock if we consider the entire investor, analyst, broker community.Have you ever read a serious analyst report on this stock anywhere in the past ? .Only SP Tulsian mentioned once in last year this stock as a multi bagger .Even in that cases too I think even he was not aware this company belongs to Strides Group .Am I right ?

    2. Not Everyone will hold for long. Most of them will try to time the market or stock price and settle for few rupees gain and wait for price to lower down which may not happen . So this way sort term players will be out of the stock. A long term investor won't be selling this stock.

Due to lesser number of floating stocks the price is bound to get appreciated over a period of time.

Do you think anyone will sell a stock just before expecting good news flow which will transform the entire company into another orbit ?.People can say anything but only our conviction will succeed ultimately.I don't think entering and exiting to reduce cost price in a low volume stock like sequent is a good idea ,if we have faith in the company and plan to hold it for long time.

I lost heavily in stock market in my early days due to misleading informations and 'TIPS' .It is an effort to save atleast someone from 'TIPS' and help to take informed decisions and save their hard earned money .Another part is ,there is no use if I identify a good company and no others are interested in it even if it is an excellent pick.Media attention is important in these days as far as stock market is concerned .I have no money to start a channel or no ability to appear in a business channel .So this is my small effort and it is the vested interest part .No doubt if I found a potential stock and I have money to buy it ,I will buy it before posting it ( I think only a fools will do the opposite). But never post it If I feels nothing left in the table for my readers and in 99 out of 100 cases I never sell in the subsequent days when my readers came for buying .I have only long term view and I always feel share price is a reflection of business growth which will not happen over night.

Paid site is an option to make money but I believe all investors are not wealthy to subscribe it ( Rs.1000 was a big amount for me about 20 years back )and that option will give money only for paid subscribers at the cost of other readers which I feel not fair.

Congrats on a good useful blog.

Why is it that most of the value picks are either midcap or smallcap stocks, i.e. small companies. How come there are very few value picks from large caps or sensex / nifty stocks.

Please suggest some value picks from sensex/nifty stocks i.e. large caps.

Kindly reply as soon as possible.
